This indoor/outdoor dome camera has a Sony video sensor, a built-in infrared LED array, and a reinforced, coated acrylic dome with high impact resistance (tested with 10lb sledgehammer) coupled with a high grade hard aluminum alloy base. This design gives the camera a high tamper/vandal resistance factor making it perfect for outdoor use in many situations, including urban surveillance scenarios where a lesser camera wouldn't last. Other features include optional cable routing feature and anti-tamper screws.
Enhanced video quality under low and no visible light is possible due to the Sony infrared sensitive video sensor and an array of infrared LEDs under Smart Technology control. The camera automatically senses brightness and available light and turns on groups of IR LEDs in 4 stages - 6, 12, 18, and 28 units on/off as required. Infrared range is 20 meters (65.6 feet).
Advanced design features make this camera easy to setup, install and maintain. You can select 12VDC or 24VAC power input (the camera accepts either with no special settings). When you place it or move it you can easily check the aim and focus with a portable monitor - a test composite output (RCA jack) is built into the camera itself so there's no need for a second person or a trip to a remote location to verify camera aim. The internal bracket design allows movement in 3 axis, so you can point the camera virtually anywhere once you've attached it to a wall or ceiling. Another advanced feature is the white strobing deterrence LED which gives you a constant visual feedback that the camera has power and is in place. Very visible in the dark of night. This LED can be disabled (turned off) without harming the camera, if you do not want this feature.
Other advanced features in this camera include an internal test monitor output, Smart IR control that prevents IR image washout and a 3-axis gimbled bracket that allows you to mount the camera at any angle and get a good picture. Facts about our Infrared Security Cameras
Infrared light lies between the visible and invisible (microwave) portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Infrared light has a range of wavelengths just like visible light has wavelengths that range from red light to violet. "Near infrared" light is closest in wavelength to visible light and "far infrared" is closer to the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The longer wavelengths are about the size of a pin head and the shorter, near infrared ones are the size of cells, or are microscopic.
The human eye is not designed to pick up infrared light so a beam of infrared light is invisible. The source of the infrared light, depending on the wavelength, may or may not be visible as a small red or orange-red dot (about the size of a match head).
Our infrared security cameras detect infrared light reflected from objects in the field of view. The image appears in monochrome (black-and-white). These cameras contain an internal array of infrared LEDs under automatic control. The range of detectable infrared light cast by each array depends on the video sensor and the camera design (number and placement of IR LEDs). Check each camera description for the IR LED range specification to be sure of the range for the security camera in question - we have cameras that cast a 30', 60', and 120' beam (or greater). We also carry IR projectors that are designed to cast a wide, long range IR beam for cameras that do not have internal IR LEDs. Keep in mind that atmospheric conditions will effect the effective range (fog, snow, rain, etc.).
All of our infrared cameras auto-switch between normal daylight color mode and infrared monochrome mode without user intervention of any kind. |
