The STI-16H2648 is a professional series standalone security DVR with real-time recording designed for homes and small businesses that need more than 4-camera coverage. This 8-camera DVR is easy to use and easy to set up thanks to clearly marked front panel buttons, back panel connectors, and a high quality easy to read manual (hard copy). It uses the latest H264 video codec for compression and has a multi-lingual on-screen menu. Use a VGA computer monitor or a composite monitor to watch your cameras and video playback. There's a spot monitor output as well. You can use the front panel buttons to program the DVR (has password access control to prevent unauthorized users) or the included infrared remote control. You can also program it remotely through a LAN or the world wide web.

It's fully remote operable over a LAN or the internet using our FREE downloadable client software (from our dedicated support site), so you can watch your cameras or manipulate your DVR, watch streaming video, reschedule recording functions, set up motion recording and everything else from any location in the world with an internet connection (a high speed connection is required, of course, for streaming video viewing). Making backups is easy using our software (which will insert a watermark for use in court or in legal settings). You can also save files in easily transportable AVI format that can be read on any computer.

Firmware updates, when any are available, can be downloaded on-line and installed via USB 2.0 device. Storage is never a problem with the ability to hold up to 3 hardware devices (three hard disk drives or two hard disk drives and a DVD R/W drive).
